Art for me is about form, texture and color.  My work has been inspired by Native American spiritualism and fetishes, particularly buffalo, which possess steadfast endurance to rise above weakness, and bear, which possess strength and the inner power to perceive present circumstances.  I like the excitement of raku, and while many of my pieces require a lot of planning and work, I'm willing to risk it all for the potential drama that only a raku firing can produce.  I shy away from perfect symmetry, even when working on the wheel, seeking to infuse my pieces with an organic quality that relates the work back to the earth from which it began.
